Charis Vision and Health Mission hosted a seminar titled "Love Your Eyes, Kids" in Calabar, Nigeria in line with the 2024 World Sight Day theme of "prioritizing child eye health". The seminar at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital hall in Calabar on 9/10/2024 targeted parents and addressed the myths, misconceptions, and stigmas associated with children wearing spectacles. Some of the issues discussed included name-calling, resulting in a perceived feeling of shame, as well as myths such as children being too young to wear spectacles or the misconception that children will outgrow the need for them. The potential harm of untreated vision problems in children was also highlighted. This campaign is an ongoing initiative of Charis Vision and Health Mission, aiming to increase access to eye health services and reach those currently underserved.
